Pet Sympathy and Challenges

Hi everyone! Most of my friends, and myself included, treat our pets like family.  So when one is lost it is a very painful time.  I found this image from the amazing Mo Manning and the angel holding the kitten is just so moving.  She also has one of an angel with a puppy that I also purchased and will make into a card for my stash. I felt these images made perfect Pet Sympathy cards. My tip for Top Tip Tuesday would be, and I said this before but not as an actual "tip" you can make your own rhinestone flourishes using a stencil, rhinestones and  stratigically placed dabs of glue.  I also made the glimmer mist used on these flowers (they were white) using hair spray, pearl ex and Tim Holtz ink.  I don't have an exact recipe it was kind of like Dr. Frankenstein some of this, some of that, wa-la.  Unfortunately, my tip is usually what "not" to do (boy do I have a whole bunch of those)LOL.

I have entered this card in the following challenges:
  1. Mo's Challenge Blog- Use Vellum or acetate (vellum on the tag)

Card for DAT baby and Challenges!

Hi everyone, two cards in one week!! I am expecting a new grandchild the first week of December.  His name is Dominic Alexander Turner, who I affectionately call DAT Baby. (Think about it, DAT's cute, DAT's precious) Yeah Yeah, my son probably doesn't care for it either but well..I'm the boss of him. This is another Bugaboo image his name is Bentley. I know I know..I said I need to use other stamps, I have some printed off ready for coloring..don't judge me lol.

In Fort Wayne Indiana they have a warehouse that is only open from October until Christmas it is called Darlington Farms Warehouse, everything is 1.49.  I go every year and this year they had a ton of scrapbook and card making supplies.  Rubber stamps, paper, K & Company, Martha Stewart etc. So as I stood there, arguing with myself (much like Golam from Lord of the Rings) about whether or not I truly need more supplies I was approached by an elderly woman..probably 80 or so who says to me in a hushed tone "If you aren't already into this stuff (meaning the scrapbook supplies) ...run".  I turned to her with a look of defeat and said "too late"!
I am entering this card into the following challenges:
  1. Catch the Bug-Anything Goes

  3. Fairytale Challenge-Everything Goes

Christmas Cards and Challenges

Hi fellow bloggers.  Like everyone else I am knee deep in trying to get Christmas cards together. This is Bugaboo's Stella, I really love Bugaboo stamps.  I have decided that I have so many digital stamps that each week I should choose a different designer to do at least 1 card or project. LOL that is my goal. My digi stamps are like my clothes, I have a lot of them but wear (use) the same ones all the time.
I think my flourishes turned out a little better this week, I still made my own but I used a stencil from I-Rock. I don't use the heat thingy, just the stencil.  I got my order from the Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium (LOVE THEM ) they have great prices I bought all the Tim Holtz distress ink pads (see card above "worn lipstick") and my I-Rock stencils.  All I do is mention a product I would like to have and the ladies give a prompt answer and usually add it to the store inventory at a great reduced price.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:
  1.  Create4 Fun- Sketch Challenge
  2. Bee Crafty-Christmas
  3. Drunken Stampers-Punch Me (LoL I love the name of this blog)
  4. Paper Issues-Scallops
  5. Catch the Bug-Anything Goes
  6. One Stop Craft-Embossing
  7. Crafty Catz-Spots and Stripes
  8. Crafty Ann's-Non Traditional Colours Christmas
  9. Pixie Dust Challenge-Blue Pink and Lime Green
  10. StampInsanity-Punch Drunk Love (wonder if they have met the Drunken stampers)
  11. Craft Your Passion- Use two of Something (my flourish)
  12. Anything Goes-Emboss it
  13. Lexi's Creations- Anything Goes
  14. Digital Tuesday- Never used stash and a digi (Using my rhinestones!)

Blog with Attitude Award

I love the Digi's with Attitude and Grumpy Gretchen! They have an award they give out (ok I signed up for it but..I digress) so to complete the badge requirements I have to list three things that are different about me and separate me from everyone else.  Let's see
1. I try to find humor in everything!
2. I have more time than money and try to concoct my own spinoff of scrap supplies (glue dots, glimmer mist, flourishes etc.) Even if...it takes ALL DAY!
3. I prefer snarky, funny sentiments rather than sappy  heart felt ones :)

Now I am to nominate 5 other people/blogs to get the award.

1.  Janie- GTC Crafty Corner
2. Danielle-Fun and Mental Changes
3. Marlene-Disguised as a Grown Up
4.Michelle-Caffiene and Stamps (Your stay put bow has saved me LOL)
5. Tamara- Scrapcation Getaway

I would like to thank the above ladies for contributions they have made to my crafty life. Additionally, Marlene and Danielle make me laugh too! Follow the instructions girls there is a prize! Check out all the Grumpy Gretchen's while you are there, follow them and check out the challenges!!

Thanks for reading this!

Bday card for the Monkey and Challenges!

Hello Everyone thanks for coming by.  This is a birthday card for my daughter Sarah a.k.a. (The Monkey). She is a sophomore in college and after 12 years of catholic school, came home with a pair of wings tat-ewed on her shoulder blades.  One on each side, up to this point in her life she didn't even have her ears pierced! When the weather turned warm she had forgotten I didn't know about it, came home from work wearing a tank top and low and behold, I gasped and thought WTF! (Please do not be offended, I say with a 90 % certainty that if your 20 year old daughter came home with wings tat-ewed on her back you would also say WTF, there is no other phrase that works). I prayed it was henna...it wasn't.  *sigh* so this image is for her. This is one of Kenny K's images Devilish Donna I love this image!

I made my own glimmer mist and sprayed it on the flowers, I am happy with how it turned out, the flowers were white before I sprayed them.  The flower centers are buttons.  The dew drops on top of the buttons I colored as well with glimmer mist (note to self and my tip for Tip Top Tuesday, the shimmery stuff (pearl ex) rubs off of plastic, color stays, no more pearl ex on dew drops) The dew drops were clear from Michael's.

I know this is long...stay with me.  So I have seen all these fancy bling flourishes and I have a ton of rhinestones (another sad story) so I thought "Hey, I can make one of those out of my rhinestones." So I bought a stencil by Pebbles, it says it's for chalk..heh.  So I placed it on the card, strategically placed dots of glue and wa-la.  Well it is my first attempt, don't turn on me lol.  I need smaller rhinestones I suppose and I need to not bunch them up but I have not given up. This is one picture of a plastic container of rhinestones, I have THREE

I hope I get better with practice because I have a LOT of rhinestones to use LOL.  If you have stayed with me this long thanks and I have entered my card in the following challenges:
  1. Kenny K's Challenge-Anything Goes
  2. Secret Crafter-Anything that flies
  3. Tip Top Tuesday-Anything Goes
  4. Fairy Knoll Friday-Anything Goes

More deals!

I recently made two purchases from Ebay and I am quite pleased.  The first was a set of 10 "Mini Misters" similar to the Tim Holtz kind.  I got 10 for 6.99 and free shipping. I believe she also has a set of 30 for $14.99. You can check out her link here. Here is the pick she has in the store of the Mini Misters

The other purchase was for a Pump Dispenser (it says for Nail Polish Remover and Makeup Remover but stay with me here). Gina K Designs has a similar pump only much more fancy and I believe made out of glass that she uses for her odorless mineralspirits. I use odorless mineral spirits when I color my images with my Primacolor Pencils.  Now Gina's is $25.00 the one I found on Ebay, plastic and not fancy was only $2.81 and free shipping!  It takes about 2 weeks to get it but hey, at that price I could buy several.

Basically, you place the mineralspirits in the plastic bottle and then push down on the top. The pump pulls the liquid up to a little bowl in the top so you can dip your blending stumps in.  It reduces evaporation and spills and the "What the heck do I put this stuff in" problem. Their link is here. Here is a picture of the pump

Hope someone finds this helpful! I get so much good info from all you great crafters, I just wanted a chance to share some info with you. Thanks for looking!

Papercraft Supply a-holics Unite!

I think this is my first blog post without a project to share.  So you..my 24 followers (lol) have become my defacto support group where I shall now confess my addiction.  I have an overwhelming addiction to papercraft supplies.

1st step of course is to admit I have a problem that has become unmanageable.  Oh..I have a problem.  I have unopened tools (including but not limited to a cricut jukebox, a carl hand trimmer, cricut cartridges still in plastic) from 2 YEARS ago *sigh* but I had to have them. I have BOXES of unsorted scrap supplies in 3 different rooms in my house! Therefore, I really don't know what I have.  My son tried to point this out to me when he said "Don't order mom, just go into the basement and look around, you don't even know what you have, it will be like shopping..only cheaper".  I thought..PSHAW...he is just not enlightened to my craft :/  I really have a problem purging unneeded or unused supplies! I COULD NEED it for something..sometime. I take way to seriously the papercraft credo "She who dies with the most supplies wins".

2nd step is to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.  So I am thinking..Martha Stewart organizational tools, the Scrapbox, those cube things from Michael's? I have not yet discovered this power...with relationship to my problem..however, I seek!

3rd step is to make the decision to turn my life around.  I am going to undertake this journey! Pay no attention to the Paypal receipt with today's date for Dick Blick. I shall go through boxes, organize and sell or donate and purge my poor neglected, once much sought after, items.

4th step to make an inventory.  Yeah, I started that today and found myself saying way to often "I didn't know I had that",  "I could use that", and a lot of "Oh Hey look at that".

5th step admit to you my followers my wrongs. I will start with one this evening.  I was wrong to think I needed every color eyelet as they all remain UNTOUCHED by my Cropadile..also a must have tool. ( Next up my never used collection of embossing powder)

6th step I shall open myself up to your wisdom, suggestions and support through this trying time.

7th step I will ask the higher power to remove my shortcomings.  Of course that is what got me in this mess.  I could not be without the latest thing! Martha Stewart, Tim Holtz, Provo Craft...lend me your ears!

8th make a list to those harmed and make amends.  So far its just my cat, he feels neglected as he tries to plant himself in the middle of my project and I try to work around him.  However, later it will be my children who will have to go through and dispense with my hoard of supplies if I meet an unexpected demise! I have already instructed them that these are valuable and to not "give them away" in case I am called to the big crop in the sky.

9th to make direct amends.  I will get organized, I will purge, I will show my son I have self control lol!

10th to continue to take inventory and when I make an unneeded or useless purchase to admit it right away, take it back, sell it or purge it from my space!

11th to meditate and go to my happy place where every thing is organized :)

And last but not least:

12th to have a spiritual like awakening, that sometimes less is MORE! If I have so much that I don't know what I have it is too much!

Thanks for listening to my rant.  Thanks to the Enchanted Stamper for giving me a garage sale idea for my blog! I saw she had a separate page for her sale items and I was like..I can do it too! Right now it is just marked "Testing" I had to play and see if I could make it work.  Stay tuned! Thanks for looking!

Dusting off the Cricut and Challenges

Well this was a real learning day lol!  Never try a new technique..on a project..due out the next day! So many talented card makers make distressing paper with ink look...easy. Well this is my first attempt with Tim Holtz. First I was just going to ink the edges..a little got on other parts of the card, so I inked the whole thing. *sigh*. The one thing I did find was a "stay put bow, stay put ribbon tutorial". Thank you Michelle!  Yeah I know I am a little behind.  The bride was a freebie from the good people over at SVG cuts, she has a cute tutorial on making a card with this cut as well.  Thanks for listening to me rehash this experience lol.  I have entered this card in the following challenges:
