Bday card for the Monkey and Challenges!

Hello Everyone thanks for coming by.  This is a birthday card for my daughter Sarah a.k.a. (The Monkey). She is a sophomore in college and after 12 years of catholic school, came home with a pair of wings tat-ewed on her shoulder blades.  One on each side, up to this point in her life she didn't even have her ears pierced! When the weather turned warm she had forgotten I didn't know about it, came home from work wearing a tank top and low and behold, I gasped and thought WTF! (Please do not be offended, I say with a 90 % certainty that if your 20 year old daughter came home with wings tat-ewed on her back you would also say WTF, there is no other phrase that works). I prayed it was henna...it wasn't.  *sigh* so this image is for her. This is one of Kenny K's images Devilish Donna I love this image!

I made my own glimmer mist and sprayed it on the flowers, I am happy with how it turned out, the flowers were white before I sprayed them.  The flower centers are buttons.  The dew drops on top of the buttons I colored as well with glimmer mist (note to self and my tip for Tip Top Tuesday, the shimmery stuff (pearl ex) rubs off of plastic, color stays, no more pearl ex on dew drops) The dew drops were clear from Michael's.

I know this is long...stay with me.  So I have seen all these fancy bling flourishes and I have a ton of rhinestones (another sad story) so I thought "Hey, I can make one of those out of my rhinestones." So I bought a stencil by Pebbles, it says it's for chalk..heh.  So I placed it on the card, strategically placed dots of glue and wa-la.  Well it is my first attempt, don't turn on me lol.  I need smaller rhinestones I suppose and I need to not bunch them up but I have not given up. This is one picture of a plastic container of rhinestones, I have THREE

I hope I get better with practice because I have a LOT of rhinestones to use LOL.  If you have stayed with me this long thanks and I have entered my card in the following challenges:
  1. Kenny K's Challenge-Anything Goes

More deals!

I recently made two purchases from Ebay and I am quite pleased.  The first was a set of 10 "Mini Misters" similar to the Tim Holtz kind.  I got 10 for 6.99 and free shipping. I believe she also has a set of 30 for $14.99. You can check out her link here. Here is the pick she has in the store of the Mini Misters

The other purchase was for a Pump Dispenser (it says for Nail Polish Remover and Makeup Remover but stay with me here). Gina K Designs has a similar pump only much more fancy and I believe made out of glass that she uses for her odorless mineralspirits. I use odorless mineral spirits when I color my images with my Primacolor Pencils.  Now Gina's is $25.00 the one I found on Ebay, plastic and not fancy was only $2.81 and free shipping!  It takes about 2 weeks to get it but hey, at that price I could buy several.

Basically, you place the mineralspirits in the plastic bottle and then push down on the top. The pump pulls the liquid up to a little bowl in the top so you can dip your blending stumps in.  It reduces evaporation and spills and the "What the heck do I put this stuff in" problem. Their link is here. Here is a picture of the pump

Hope someone finds this helpful! I get so much good info from all you great crafters, I just wanted a chance to share some info with you. Thanks for looking!

Papercraft Supply a-holics Unite!

I think this is my first blog post without a project to share.  So you..my 24 followers (lol) have become my defacto support group where I shall now confess my addiction.  I have an overwhelming addiction to papercraft supplies.

1st step of course is to admit I have a problem that has become unmanageable.  Oh..I have a problem.  I have unopened tools (including but not limited to a cricut jukebox, a carl hand trimmer, cricut cartridges still in plastic) from 2 YEARS ago *sigh* but I had to have them. I have BOXES of unsorted scrap supplies in 3 different rooms in my house! Therefore, I really don't know what I have.  My son tried to point this out to me when he said "Don't order mom, just go into the basement and look around, you don't even know what you have, it will be like shopping..only cheaper".  I thought..PSHAW...he is just not enlightened to my craft :/  I really have a problem purging unneeded or unused supplies! I COULD NEED it for something..sometime. I take way to seriously the papercraft credo "She who dies with the most supplies wins".

2nd step is to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.  So I am thinking..Martha Stewart organizational tools, the Scrapbox, those cube things from Michael's? I have not yet discovered this power...with relationship to my problem..however, I seek!

3rd step is to make the decision to turn my life around.  I am going to undertake this journey! Pay no attention to the Paypal receipt with today's date for Dick Blick. I shall go through boxes, organize and sell or donate and purge my poor neglected, once much sought after, items.

4th step to make an inventory.  Yeah, I started that today and found myself saying way to often "I didn't know I had that",  "I could use that", and a lot of "Oh Hey look at that".

5th step admit to you my followers my wrongs. I will start with one this evening.  I was wrong to think I needed every color eyelet as they all remain UNTOUCHED by my Cropadile..also a must have tool. ( Next up my never used collection of embossing powder)

6th step I shall open myself up to your wisdom, suggestions and support through this trying time.

7th step I will ask the higher power to remove my shortcomings.  Of course that is what got me in this mess.  I could not be without the latest thing! Martha Stewart, Tim Holtz, Provo Craft...lend me your ears!

8th make a list to those harmed and make amends.  So far its just my cat, he feels neglected as he tries to plant himself in the middle of my project and I try to work around him.  However, later it will be my children who will have to go through and dispense with my hoard of supplies if I meet an unexpected demise! I have already instructed them that these are valuable and to not "give them away" in case I am called to the big crop in the sky.

9th to make direct amends.  I will get organized, I will purge, I will show my son I have self control lol!

10th to continue to take inventory and when I make an unneeded or useless purchase to admit it right away, take it back, sell it or purge it from my space!

11th to meditate and go to my happy place where every thing is organized :)

And last but not least:

12th to have a spiritual like awakening, that sometimes less is MORE! If I have so much that I don't know what I have it is too much!

Thanks for listening to my rant.  Thanks to the Enchanted Stamper for giving me a garage sale idea for my blog! I saw she had a separate page for her sale items and I was like..I can do it too! Right now it is just marked "Testing" I had to play and see if I could make it work.  Stay tuned! Thanks for looking!

Dusting off the Cricut and Challenges

Well this was a real learning day lol!  Never try a new technique..on a project..due out the next day! So many talented card makers make distressing paper with ink look...easy. Well this is my first attempt with Tim Holtz. First I was just going to ink the edges..a little got on other parts of the card, so I inked the whole thing. *sigh*. The one thing I did find was a "stay put bow, stay put ribbon tutorial". Thank you Michelle!  Yeah I know I am a little behind.  The bride was a freebie from the good people over at SVG cuts, she has a cute tutorial on making a card with this cut as well.  Thanks for listening to me rehash this experience lol.  I have entered this card in the following challenges:
  1. Stamp Something: Celebrate
  2. Sew Many Cards: Anything Goes
  3. Catch the Bug: Anything Goes
